Hlengiwe Mthembu from Ngwavuma, Zululand is an inspiration to many. She is the foster mother to a growing number of HIV/AIDS orphans and her garden provides food for more than 400 students between the ages of 6 and 12 and for many this will be their only source of daily nutrition. Hlengiwe works in a very isolated area where prevalent HIV/AIDS has led to a number of orphans. The school not only provides lessons to the children but in addition, next to the garden, a playground has also been built.
Among other things, donations are used for the maintenance of the garden and for food for the children.
In 2016 our donation will be used in the provision of clean drinking water. The borehole from which the water is taken no longer seems to be functioning properly and needs to be replaced.
